We had our "8 week" ultrasound today with our RE. We are technically 7w6d today, we aren't 8 weeks until tomorrow, but it's close enough=).
So the update - the babies are doing great! Both measuring right on target. Their heartbeats today were 158 bpm (baby A) and 162 bpm (baby B). It was awesome to hear their little hearts beating again. It really is music to a mother's ears!
Now we don't have any more appointments for two full weeks! They are still drawing my levels, and today my levels were good! My Hcg level was 249,000 (holy cow no wonder I feel awful!), my estrogen level was 3500, and my progesterone was 78. All GREAT! So great in fact that the RE said I can stop using the estrogen patch, and can go down to one shot of PIO (progesterone in oil) per day! My OB wants me to stay on the PIO until at least 12 weeks, so he doesn't think I should reduce yet, but he said it is up to me if I want to. Oh the decisions!
Oh, and I need to have Si take another picture of me. I suspect I am still losing weight, but my tummy is growing away! Maybe I will save that picture for later in the week. For tonight, I will leave you with the ultrasound picture from today. They still don't look like babies. . .they looked like gummy bears at the time the ultrasound was actually going on, but in the picture the babies kind of look like frogs! HA!
Anyway, enjoy! Hope you all have a wonderfully blessed week!

The 3/24/10 OB visit update
Okay, so I realized I am majorly slacking.
The point at which you have to put the date of the actual update in the title is a sad day!
So, as you can tell by the title, we had a visit with our OB on Wednesday (3/24). He did an ultrasound and both little monkeys are still doing great! One was measuring 7w2d and the other was measuring 7w1d (which is what I actually was on Wednesday). He said our official "40 week" due date would be Novmeber 8th, but that most twin mommies go on their own by 37 weeks, so we are looking more like mid-Octoberish (or maybe a smidge earlier) for these babies to arrive.
We got to HEAR the heartbeats at this visit and it was SO amazing! I just melted. I was instantly at ease and I knew my babies were okay. Si recorded one of the heartbeats on his phone and figured out how to turn it into an MP3 file (so Windows Media Player can play it). If I can figure out how to attach it or upload it to the blog I will because it is way cool. It sounds like horses running! The heart beats were around 180 beats per minute.
Otherwise what is going on? Well, my OB gave me a script for Zofran (an anti-nausea med) that will actually dissolve on my tongue. Pretty cool eh? I have lost 10 lbs in the last 2 weeks already. Crazy! You totally can't tell. I just look like I'm expanding (thanks babies!!). The zofran helps some, but it definitely doesn't solve the problem. So, I will probably lose more weight before I gain any. That's okay though - less weight to loose after the babies are born, right?? LOL.
So that's all I have for now I think. We go back to see the RE on Monday for our 8 week checkup. Fingers crossed that both babies will still be alive and well=). Have a great weekend everyone!!

My pants don't fit!
How did this happen? LOL.
I know HOW it happened, I guess I didn't expect it to happen quite so soon!!
I expect by the end of the week I will probably not be able to wear my normal work clothes anymore. Very sad! I have some very cute work clothes. . .
On the bright side, I did talk to other twin mommies, and they confirmed that with twins you start showing incredibly early (like 7 weeks), and they predict I will be in maternity clothes at 8 weeks. Ready or not here we come huh?? That's okay, I will cherish the bump =).
Here's a pic of my no longer skinny belly! It will very likely never be the same again=). Grow babies grow!
Hope you all are having a great Monday!!

Everyone likes pictures, right?
So I decided that since Si went through all the work to figure out how to scan the ultrasound pictures into the computer that I could go ahead and take the extra 5 mintues to post them here for all of you to see.
So, without further delay, here are the ultrasound pics from today. They aren't the best quality ever, but I don't care, I'm still a proud momma! And sorry, the pics come out huge on this site, regardless of what I try to do to shrink them down. You get the idea though=)
This is "Baby A" and "Baby B" at 5 weeks 6 days.

The ultrasound report!
Are you guys ready for this?
I mean, REALLY ready for this??
I don't know if I'm ready for this!
SO, we had our ultrasound today at the RE (reproductive endocrinologist). We are currently about 6 weeks pregnant. Now for the news. On the ultrasound we saw TWO little babies with hearts just beating away. We are currently pregnant with TWINS!!! Can you believe it??? We can hardly believe it! We just stared in awe at the flicker of the heartbeats on the screen. It was AMAZING!
Well, this definitely explains the early morning sickness! Double the HCG = double the symptoms! And the morning sickness will definitely get worse before it gets better. All for a GREAT cause though!
Of course we are still at risk for miscarriage. I probably won't feel incredibly comfortable that this pregnancy will work until we are into the second trimester. BUT, the risk of miscarriage goes down significantly after you see a heartbeat (or heartbeats!). So, for the time being, we are doing GREAT, and we couldn't be happier! We go back for a repeat ultrasound with the RE in two weeks.
Thanks for the continued prayers and support! We love you all!!!
Oh, and a continued reminder to PLEASE not post this information on any social networking site. We would like to continue to keep this from the general public for as long as possible (which with twins, won't be that much longer =), but still). If you would like to talk to us, please email us directly (facebook email is fine), call us, or reply to this post=). Thanks for your understanding!!!

Just a quick update!
I know I haven't posted in nearly a week. Drama right? Well, I didn't have much to share. I still don't really! But I will share what I do know=).
The spotting has stopped completely (YAY!). It stopped a couple of days ago. It has since been replaced with some random morning sickness. Woo hoo! I haven't actually gotten sick (yet), just gotten the random waves of nausea (awesome), and then it goes away and returns randomly a bit later. I think one of my triggers is going to be the car though - yikes! On the way home from work today I was literally gagging as I was driving! Major drama! So those of you that live a ways away, I'm sorry, but I don't think I am going to make any road trips out to visit you any time soon! LOL!
So, I'm pleased about the morning sickness (that doesn't really happen all that much in the morning)! I think it's a good sign that everything is okay in there.
I'm still 6 days out from my ultrasound with my RE. . . can time go any slower??? At least I am half way there though. Last Wednesday when I got my beta the ultrasound was 12 days away. So time is passing. Just S-L-O-W-L-Y. Some would tell me to enjoy this time. And I will. Once I see that everything is okay with the baby or babies inside of me. Then I can let go a little. Then I can relax a touch. I am very excited for that day. Oh, and I'm officially 5 weeks pregnant today. YAY.
Hope you all are having a wonderfully blessed day!

Beta #2
I have never had a Beta Hcg level double. EVER. Until now!
Beta #1 - 3/1/2010 (8dp5dt - 13 dpo equivalent) - 121
Beta #2 - 3/3/2010 (10dp5dt - 15 dpo equivalent) - 321!
Woo hoo!!! In fact, they are SO happy about this, that they don't want to see me for another 12 days. REALLY?? 12 days??? I've never gone that long being pregnant without levels or an ultrasound. . .so why start now?! LOL=). SO, my next appointment with my RE is on 3/15/2010.
I've been taking progesterone in oil twice a day since Sunday AM because I was having some spotting (not red though - so its okay). Well, that's still kind of going on, but I called my OB yesterday and they squeezed me in and did a quick ultrasound, and the baby/babies are fine, it's just some blood filled cysts on my left ovary that are "leaking". Gross, but fine. I love my OB!
The RE checked my progesterone level (p4) this morning and it was 68. That's a fine level, but not fine enough for me to get out of that second daily shot. Bummer! Worth it for a baby though=).
They also checked my estrogen (e2) level. It was only 99. They are adding on an estrogen patch. I'm not really sure where my e2 level should be, but 99 is apparently a bit low! LOL=).
SO, I may not have anything exciting to report for a while. It's going to be 12 days of hurry up and wait, which is okay with me. I am just so thrilled that God has once again blessed us with the opportunity to be parents. . .for however long of time.
We thank you so much for all of your thoughts and prayers. They are always appreciated! We love you guys!!
