One of our new favorite things

The girls got a ton of stuff for Christmas.

WAY more than they needed.  I was seriously considering donating some of the gifts I had bought them to the Open Door Mission or one of the children's homes in town....they got that much...

Their "big" present this year was a kitchenette, which they love, and the grandparents got the girls some really nice fake food items/sets to go along with it. It's pretty sweet.  Way cooler than anything I ever had when I was a kid, that's for sure!  They also got shopping carts and cash registers. And puzzles, tea sets, coloring books, markers, and crayons.  So much STUFF!

One of the least noteworthy things that they received (or so I thought) were these bath tablets, made by Crayola, which were nestled in their stockings on Christmas morning.

Ladies, let me tell you...I bought these at Target...I needed something to stick in the girls stockings and they were like $3....I thought, why not?

Major score! The girls LOVE them! They love getting to choose which color their bath water is at night, and they love playing tea party in the bath with the colored water! Totally worth the $3! It's definitely one of the girls new favorite things!  And, it's a great way to kill an hour on a cold morning when we can't go outside and play....take a nice warm bath and play tea party at the same time!

Both of these pictures were taken with the blue tablets (I think the blue is the best!), but the girls like the yellow and the red equally as well.

So there! What I least expected turned out to be a big hit =).

Do you guys have a favorite item that your kiddos got for Christmas?  If so, share it here! I'd love to get some more great ideas!

Hope you all are well!

Megan

  1. We love those too. It helps teach primary and secondary colors too - just drop two in together to see what color they make. Double score! Cam and Gray love purple and green best. :)

    1. I didn't even think about mixing the tablets to teach about primary vs secondary colors! Great thinking!!

  2. Looks like lots of fun! Does it leave a colored film on the tub?

  3. Those look like fun!

Our big score this holiday was Trio blocks...an upgrade to the Mega Bloks. And for their birthday, the girls got a cash register, and they are so into it.

Thinking back over the past couple of years, our girls still love their train set (a combination of Melissa & Doug and Imaginarium); and several different types of pattern blocks are huge hits.

  4. Trio blocks eh? I will definitely have to check those out! The girls still love their blocks so an upgrade would be lovely;-). Thanks for the suggestions!!

  5. Those looks like so much fun---my girls would LOVE those. I may just need to make that purchase. I've really missed doing Mama Loves---I always heard of so many great toys/tricks. I might just have to have a swimming party some day with the girls :)

  6. A bath time tea party sounds like a lot of fun. I love cheap fun stuff. So far the girls' favorite gift from santa is this "light up stick" where they push a button and different lights come on and twirl. I know that's a real poor description but I have no idea what the official name for it is

  7. My girls LOVE the bath already...I am excited to try this. They would seriously stay in the bath for over an hour if I would let them...and sometimes I am tempted :) However...I keep thinking that the yellow might gross me out...lol...a little to realistic to what actually might be going on in that bathtub!!

  8. I had not seen these before! This could be the trick we need to get Drew more interested in bath time...he's a fickle one!

We are still loving the train table..it's the kind of Christmas present that hasn't ended up lost, broken, or forgotten.
